they talk to me about a tree and life

and about how Adam needs a wife

“remember where you’re from” they say

don’t need reminding, we see it every day

“your roots are small”, “yours not that tall”

“wanna walk this hall? it’s not for all”

“think of your pedigree…

…before you decide where to be”

they say Adam needs a wife

thinking what to choose, on the edge of a knife

could go and join a fight

could come and bring some light

could want to spend the night

could ask a guy to show me things in sight

possibilities, growth to reach a sky…

…when to cut a tree down, to let die?

“the tree is here, as you can see…

…would you like to bite or let things be?”

“…would you like a bite of what things can be?”

they do say we’re free

“when you feel you need some help…

…it’s the time to ground yourself”

plant those roots so you can grow

any chop just makes it slow

“how did the tallest tree came to be?”

look to ask, in life to see

to choose, and be.
