“Taking a Stand, Holding a Hand”
By Katie Pope
Not knowing what to say,
Hidden behind the vail of shame,
Never understanding the hurt,
Choosing to remain silent,
Killing he tears shed by the wounded,
With a sord of slang.
Killing those who steal fear,
With a quite known so well.
Never knowing what to do,
Taking a stand, I choose to fight.
Learning of the voice inside,
Learning to stand tall,
Taking a punch and giving a smile,
Helping each to learn and heal.
Teaching them to stand tall.
Giving a voice, only knowing what,
To say when the time is right.
Standing tall, holding a hand,
We heal, killing the shame,
Releasing the pain,
Gaining strength, living the life,
To whin this fight.
