Taken For Granted

A short poem about love

By MaddiePublished 4 years ago 1 min read

Love is something people take for granted.

They take for granted the constant greetings every morning,

They take for granted the constant reassurance, the deep understanding, the idle chatter.

The ups and downs,

The arguments and the night outs,

Meeting parents and becoming family

They take for granted the butterflies in their stomach when they see each other,

The countless laughs and adventures taken together,

The experiences tried with one another,

The beauty of falling asleep in each others arms

Stolen glances without the other seeing,

Hand holding beneath tables to hide the affection,

Looking at each other and smiling without saying a word.

They take for granted the constant want to spend time with one another,

The soft words spoken when the sun rises,

The mutual appreciation for each other's silent company,

An unbreakable connection between the two of you even if you part ways.

Love is something taken for granted by people who don’t understand what it’s like to not have it.
