social commentary
There's a rich history of poetry serving as social commentary, intended to inspire calls to action.
Papa'merica
Dear Papa'merica, This is Mama'erica, here, and we need to talk to set things straight. We need to talk about you, Papa'merica, and your shoes. Now you up and became the President of the United States, but that didn't make you king of the world ok. You can't be a hero, if you act like a zero. You can't just be a bully, pointing fingers, and like magic everyone does your bidding. I'm not kidding. How many people did you fire and burn along the way? How many people did you walk over? Which ones did you keep? Which one stayed? I question you because I don't think you realize that Democracy doesn't work that way, ok. If it did, then it would be tyranny.
