Performance Poetry is poetry out loud; poems brought from the page to the stage.
Fallen Empress
Can you handle reason? Or is that too far-fetched? Living in your own personal fantasy world, not realizing how you manifest. Drawing out your dramas, your fears, your lust. All the while refusing to learn how to trust. Star of the masquerade, afraid of the eyes connecting with yours. You are on the run. Well don’t stop now, I’ve only just begun. I will taunt you, I will rip out your pride. So no matter how fast you run you can never hide. I am in your head, I am by your side, I am the reflection that you see when you really want to look inside. Haven’t you figured it out yet? Don’t you realize? You are waging a war, and all battles can’t be won. Nonetheless you must fight, and never succumb. You were built with a force as strong as the Ocean, and as bright as the Moon. When you reach that calm, that quiet place, your clarity will bloom. The light inside you will overcome, all the damage, chaos, and drama you have become. So, stand tall never bow down. Look only forward Empress, wear your rightful crown.
