The World of Dreams: A Poem About Sleep
Sleep, oh blessed sleep,
A respite from the day so steep,
A chance for rest and renewal,
And a time to dream, surreal and unusual.
As the night draws near,
And the world fades to mere,
The body and mind both prepare,
For the journey to the land of slumber fair.
The eyes grow heavy, the breaths grow deep,
And the mind slowly starts to seep,
Into a world beyond our own,
Where reality's limits are overthrown.
The body relaxes, the muscles unwind,
And the worries of the day left behind,
As the mind drifts away,
Into the realm of dreams at play.
In sleep, we find a refuge,
From the stress and chaos that deluge,
Our waking hours with endless strife,
And keep us from living a balanced life.
But in sleep, we find the solace,
And the healing that our soul seeks to embrace,
The peace that comes from deep within,
And the sense of well-being that begins.
For in sleep, the body renews,
And the mind gets a chance to diffuse,
The tensions that life can bring,
And the burdens that our hearts may sing.
