Table for One

i was choking on a piece

of inadequately chewed lamb

as i struggled to catch a breath

i found the only concern i had

was that my undies were clean

gee thanks Mum!

how would that

play out in an instance

such as this?

the piece of meat

would become more

firmly lodged

preventing expulsion

the half arsed mastication

would allow softened edges

to find a firmer purchase

the breath that is sorely needed

will in turn become impeded

by a piece of Aldi lamb dinner

my eyes will glaze

my ear will ring

i will claw and rip at my throat

in a futile waste of last seconds

my face will go red and puffy

i will mistake the phosphenes

for angels

and pass out

then

i will most likely

shit myself and die

lucky i had clean undies on
