Synesthete Honesty, No Cap.

I have a Whole Lotta Color.

Abu Kamara - Self-portrait, 2016, Oil on canvas.

Sometimes I want to

Travel to the past but then

I look at my skin.

What am I?

Dark leather gorilla fabric,

Shiny and buffed,

Campfire smoke when I breathe,

A Black Dragon.

I’m not.

I have a Whole Lotta Color.

Hip and in-tune,

But our eyes believe that I’m merely a cartoon. Tom & Jerry-like.

Get hit with a pan, I don’t feel pain.

If I have a dark tan, then I need to be tamed.

If I have a light tan, then I need to feel pain.

If I don’t play the same games, then I need to be tamed.

If my eyes are too thin, then I need to feel pain.

If I love the same people, then I’m sort of fair game.

Caution, our eyes don’t come with a yellow caution sign.

We fail to see

That THEIR mind may bench 315 and is on the same team.

That SHE may feel that wet lime green when the same nostalgia is keen.

That HE may also see the golden gleam as the orchestra sings.

You, me, them, we are too quick!

Black and white as our eyes touch, yours and mine.

But our eyes are like Polaroids when it comes to time.
