Swimsuits and Skin

a sonnet

By Zoe CotePublished 5 years ago 1 min read

The feel of wet swim suits, sunshine, and skin

The sense of new fingers and holding hands

I just wanted to be wrapped up within

The boy who came in and changed all my plans //

He told me he loved me under fireworks

It took a whole two four of Smirnoff ice

He was nervous, charming, and full of quirks

I’d never experienced love this nice //

It started small and bloomed organically

no clothes would come off; we’d talk for hours

I never believed love could feel easy

Who knew this would turn to morning showers //

I know people say summer love’s a trend

But that summer, I fell for my best friend.

ps. we got married two years ago!
