Surrounded by Love
Released by Reality

In the ICU’s room, my brother fought mightily,
Fourteen of us surrounded him tightly.
For many days, his fight was intense.
Equally, our feelings were immense.
Machines hummed, and the air grew still,
Yet love poured in, it always will.
I thought of the domino games we’d never play,
And stories shared in our way.
Guilt crept in as I wished for more,
Though reality knocked at every door.
Surrounded by children, kin, and me,
My beloved brother sailed away from me.
Selfish to wish he’d always stay,
Yet, grateful to be with him on his last day.
In letting go, we all let out a cry.
As our love lives on and will never die.
