Surgery on a Friday

I'm going along for the day

My grandson broke his hand

His mom will not be there and

I will be a stand-in til she can be

Duluth has a good view to see

and some great sites to me

I love Park Point, Canal Park,

local and well-known eats

restaurants, cafes for meets

He is very nervous and unsure

what will happen for sure

a plate, and screws, who knew

some friends said, maybe glue

~

Mom didn't help with her share,

She is a nurse and does care.

We had a scare on the way

A driver went into oncoming

traffic and into the ditch! Hey,

that was bad, then coming

back into our lane, not hitting

anyone and not even missing

his place in line! I was insisting

we report what happened, this

so, I call, reported, not to miss

any detail. Then there he

was the Sheriff right where we

drove by, the guy turned off

on a road earlier. We did scoff.

~

Austin had anesthesia and sat

straight up, scared the staff at

the surgery center, said they

may have shat if a morgue, eh

Then they gave him gas

It put him right down - alas,

he had trouble waking until

his mom told him to wake, til

his grandma called his name

he was awake now no blame.

We had chicken at Popeyes,

we were tired with big sighs.

Austin, his mom, got phones

as theirs weren't charging.

I gave them Reiki for using

their phones for a time

before surgery. It's no crime.

I didn't even charge them a dime.

Hope your grandson heals good. What a great way to explain a horrific day and one where everyone survives. Good job.

The way you describe your grandson’s recovery and your role as his support is so sweet and comforting. Your calm presence must have meant a lot to him.

  • Hahahahahahaha I love how he scared them. Hope he recovers soon!

I'm glad that you avoided the crash and that your grandson is okay! This was cleverly written! Well done!
