I sat quietly and sipped my sweet tea

As I watched the sunset slowly over sea

Thoughts of tomorrow

Of joy and of sorrow

thinking what could, yet should not be

Thanks for reading!

Yep, another limerick that didn't make it into the challenge. Just figured when sorting through my folders, I may as well publish these. Hope you enjoyed it!

    Definitely improving. Good.

  • Could be, want to be, should not be, must not be. I find myself there all the time. Beautifully, thoughtfully pensive.

The last line brings to thought something I say at times, “see me for what I am, not what I failed to be” I like this one buddy caught my mind 😊

This was beautiful, the image you chose really enhances the imagery you conveyed! Great work Paul!

This poem is quite wonderful! Weightless simplicity yet the heaviness of thought. Presence, yet completely somewhere else. A constant human struggle. Beautiful job!

Awww I love this. Universal nostalgia. Sweet, sorrowful—Is it about forbidden love? A path not taken? Impending preventable doom, like a climate crisis or war? Yup. This was a darn good one. Don't leave it in the WIPs next time, silly!! :P

Wow, well done. I think I've reread this about 6 times now and keep feeling and thinking something different each time. Felt that last line so deeply.
