Sunset

A Poem

As I was eagerly waiting for the day to end, you disappeared to never be heard from again

Every call to you was to an empty void, my pleas were my heart being destroyed

I wanted nothing more than to fall asleep, in hopes there was a place where my mind could wander and retreat

I wanted us to be real, but that wasn't a part of the stars' deal

So I sit here wondering what went wrong, finding any answers through lyrics and song

But I cannot get away from how I feel, no matter how big I make a shield

I will find the ways to heal, to remind myself our story wasn't real

But yet, and still

I hated that sunset, and always will.

Wow, this is deep! The sunset imagery really hits—it's like the perfect symbol for that bittersweet ending. I love how you mixed in the emotional battle with trying to move on. It's got a raw, real vibe to it.
