Sun

the weight of light

The sun

is a flaming globe

in the sky,

an unblinking eye

that traces our lands.

*

It warms

our skin

and brightens

our days,

and if you look

directly at it,

it forces you to

look away.

*

It rises from

one horizon

and lowers from

another,

never waiting

for us to

be ready.

*

And leaving

us to await

its return

on another

bright day.

Just beautiful. I love the way this mirrors your other poem, "Moon" - you should link that one here!

  • I don't wait for it's return. I wish it never arrives. Then we'd all freeze over hehehehe 😈😈😈
