Summertime memories
Recalling warm weather in days long past
No more freezing temperatures snow or ice
The weather would be warm and oh so nice
Hotdogs lemonade apple pie
School's out vacation the Forth of July
Church picnics at the lake and cookouts in the park
Children playing outside until well after dark
Memories of hanging with friends in the night
Until parents gave the call of streetlight
The fun days of vacation Bible School
Wading in a creek or swimming in a pool
Walking to the store with friends
Wishing those good times would not end
Concerts by local bands
Falling in love and holding hands
Summer crushes and enjoying a first kiss
Those good old days were filled with bliss

Enduring love
This poem is in memory of the love of my life for 45 years-Michael Lynn Preston Sr. He is gone from the earth but remains in my heart. Not every widow dates again or remarries. For some of us like actress Betty White who was widowed 40 years before she passed away-we are strengthened by the memories of the love that was experienced and that's enough.
