Summer Stag

A poem

Blue Jay startles red rigid branch as

Tufted Song weaves waves in clouded breath.

Oyster Sun claws crystal sheen as

Scooped Moon shies from blue star death.

-

Gold Lichen wraps round frozen stump as

Caged Berry shivers with sharp beige breeze.

Frost Melt droops pale velvet rose as

Horned Root bends down crackling knees.

-

Last Leaf grips ridge horizon view as

Planted Rock bites through bare fur foot.

Glitter Blade blankets yonder yawning vale as

Night Worm writhes under day dawning soot.

-

Woolen Cloth hugs hardened bed bone as

Cotton Tail tucks beneath froth hide.

Glass Iris halts cold crying stare as

Summer Stag pivots south for His bride.

-

This poem was written in response to the Frosted Verse Challenge issued by Vocal: "Compose a poem that captures the fleeting magic of the season’s first frost and brings winter’s beauty to life."
