Summer's Volant Demise

A Sensational II Challenge Poem

By Cindy CalderPublished about a year ago 1 min read

Acrid, mephitic vapors fill the air amidst the lingering haze

Enhancing the sight of the fire’s glorified, burning blaze

Autumn leaves burn, sizzle, and evolve to cinders that rise

They drift and kindle the remaining heat of fall’s crisp blue skies

As the fetor of decay ignites the taste of summer’s volant demise

Well-wrought! I especially appreciated the aabbb rhyme scheme you implemented here. Summer drifts away with the smoke on the winds of change...

In love with "fetor of decay", and not just because I had to google fetor 😁

  • Oooo, I learnt two new words from you today, mephitic and fetor! Loved your poem!
