Summer's Volant Demise
A Sensational II Challenge Poem
By Cindy CalderPublished about a year ago • 1 min read

Acrid, mephitic vapors fill the air amidst the lingering haze
Enhancing the sight of the fire’s glorified, burning blaze
Autumn leaves burn, sizzle, and evolve to cinders that rise
They drift and kindle the remaining heat of fall’s crisp blue skies
As the fetor of decay ignites the taste of summer’s volant demise

amazing piece
Such rich word choice and striking imagery! Great work!
Love this picture of the autumn season.
A beautiful way to articulate the changing of seasons!! I do love a good fire... Nicely done Cindy!
Gorgeous piece!
Well-wrought! I especially appreciated the aabbb rhyme scheme you implemented here. Summer drifts away with the smoke on the winds of change...
Very nice and fantastic word and image creation, done with style and few words! Nice to meet your spirit.
Awesome Poem!
In love with "fetor of decay", and not just because I had to google fetor 😁
Oooo, I learnt two new words from you today, mephitic and fetor! Loved your poem!
