A hot day -

the sort that cooks you from the ground up.

The sun sizzles:

a tantalising scorch - and us

swigging cans of tepid beer that were cool ten minutes ago

and biting into chunks of drippy watermelon.

And kissing

-skin on bronzed skin-

in the uncut grass

We've been scribbled in the margins of a story that is patently absurd

Kissing and watermelons! This could be a song! Great work! Well done!
