Summer Desert Memories

From Amber to Lavender

By Charleen RicheyPublished 5 years ago 1 min read
“Desert Summer Sunset”

Upon amber hills her heart births the days

Thrusting heat into shadows cooled by night

Green brushes reach up welcoming her rays

Embracing the dawn, absorbing her light

She yearns for the high, burning mountain peaks

A golden disc lit, orange contrasts blues

Breathing through the sky, water; plant-life seeks

She chooses to rest; soft lavender hues

Life is brought forward, wrapped in desert arms

Leaving winter’s death in the harshest sands

Summer caresses with all of her charms

Touching all faces, with fire-kissed hands

Her soul is cyclic, burning in season.

The wild her babe, her every reason.
