Subdued by the Multitude

Cage at the Altar

By Levi GreyPublished 7 months ago 2 min read

Women face venomous wickedness in our history

Indifference enabling fables with baleful imagery

Honorless fathers collaring daughters are lauded gospel

While posturing hostile prophets will profit by hawking modesty

Congregations consummate doctrines that are monstrous

Compassionate actions squandered for passiveness and intolerance

Trauma hits like a bomb and it's ominous how anonymous pawns can be empowered as cowards to go along with it

Indoctrinating queens to box them in like they're hostages

Cobbling up a cage at the altar and call it modestness

Sophistry offers awful tautology mocking tolerance

Hobbling half the populace coddling active noxiousness

If this is us

Then we need to adjust

If this is we

Are we free

Are we happily cuffed

What I can see

Isn't right

Will we rise up and fight

Will we indict

Or in fright

Ignore it and flee

Accepting reckless messages sets a precedent

To leverage the oppressed for the rest to succumb to decadence

Effervescent presidents met with enlivened reverence

Igniting petty rhetoric strikingly dressed in ignorance

Witnesses wishing bigotry's ending embody listlessness

Enlisting enemies in assisting the system's synergy

When are we gonna funnel our energy end the fumbling

Crumbling the assumptive profundity of the industry

Wonder or hunger simmering difference under scrutiny

Lucidly losing ground as around is resounding timidness

Viciousness is limitless hindering our society

Why are we all forgiving pretending it's living victimless

Winning battles rattles but chattel can't grapple picturing

Astounding consequences we need a resounding victory

Blistering winter shimmers but fire is less than patient

Igniting the hearts of heroes the pyre for immolation

If this is us

Then we need to adjust

If this is we

Are we free

Are we happily cuffed

What I can see

Isn't right

Will we rise up and fight

Will we indict

Or in fright

Ignore it and flee

Hollow platitudes are entrapping and grasping gratitude

Vicissitude concluding the magnitude of this servitude

Attitude shackles rectitude fortitude is distorted

Subdued by the multitude our insurgents become informants

If this is us

Then we need to adjust

If this is we

Are we free

Are we happily cuffed

What I can see

Isn't right

Will we rise up and fight

Will we indict

Or in fright

Ignore it and flee
