I've missed the way you'd look at me
I've forgotten how it feels
I struggle with my identity
I've lost a sense for what is real
No one hangs the sad pictures
They never seem to make the cut
Love and pain the scripture
Looking twice, with both eyes shut
When words don't answer questions
And truth only masks the lies
We wait, open for suggestions
Clinging to the ties that bind
Intentions change perspective
Perspective grants interpretation
Depending on objectives
And its obvious revelations
Revealing who we are
And just who we used to be
You can't expect to get too far
When you're stuck living in between

''When you're stuck living in between" Authenticity, sincerity, and only water. I need it too. 🙂
Gossamer and mystic, this moves tenuously along the liminal edges of living with unacknowledged pain. This is one of those poems where it's hard to separate a single line for praise when each is so perfectly woven together with it's siblings that to acknowledge one over another would cause diminishment of the whole. Beautiful, sorrowful writing, Kelli.
At times I think we all feel like this. Good job.
The contrast between love, pain and self reflection is incredibly powerful here.
Ach this is far too relatable, lass. Beautiful poem, Kelli
This is the inside of my head right now.
