I've held you in a memory

I've held you in my arms

Whether smooth or leathery

Fair weathered or through storms

Your love has etched a part of me

I never want erased

I'm transformed by those memories

And each one lines my face

They alter my direction

They guide, like the north star

They harness my affection

So that, no matter where you are

I can be there with you

Holding those moments in a smile

Knowing that when my dreams come true

We'll be together, in a while

So, I let your love shine through me

I keep alive the life we shared

And one day when I cross that sea

I will relive them with you, there

One must always try to remember the good, the bad, and even the ugly memories for that is how we learn and your beautiful poem makes it sane. Good job.

This poem captures grief, love and remembrance with such softness and dignity. It feels both deeply personal and universally relatable.
