Striped Walls

A haven of peace

By Asia Monae CarltonPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

Stripes, Purple, Green and Blue

I lay in bed and I love the view

This serene dream, furniture cream

Sun is bright and my clothes are clean

I am safe, this is my home

a place I go to be alone

Where my pen births a song

where I cry when something's wrong

I love that there is a space for me

To be all I've been called to be

To spread by thoughts and lay them out

to read the Word and expunge doubt

These walls that surround me hide the pain

That come when others smite my name

Take a chance or play the game

Metamorphosis, never the same

I'm like the butterflies above my door

Spread my wings and then I soar

Cuz I can't fit this room no more

Shopping just for what's in store

So I say Goodbye to my custom room

I'd be lying if I said I'll see you soon

But you've taught that home is wherever I go

Time for myself and my home to Grow.
