Streetlights

An Inspirational Poem, When I Found Happiness

By Katherine CarusoPublished 8 years ago 2 min read

Time begins to slow down, and the lights begin to dim. There are no more questions - this is life, both then and know. No more regrets, no more temptations - I will no longer risk my own salvation. The sun has set as a haunted past appears within my mind.

I'm at a crossroads, faced with a choice. Love or Hate, I cant decide. The darkness has always been a friend of mine - and we've just been reunited for one last time. Sinful thoughts infiltrate my mind, it's dark outside, and its the perfect time for the perfect crime.

The streetlights light the way, but the darkness led me another way. A sinful feeling to be blunt - maybe their right, perhaps I am a cunt? I cannot breathe with a relaxing ease, something devil-like is preventing me.

Right or Wrong, who really knows - life is a game let's see how it goes. There are no rules, it's friend against foe - so this is how a life story goes:

We are born to die, yet strive to survive, we fall in love faster then we can cry. We start out crawling, speechless and loving. We grow up - walk, talk and never shut up and we begin to hate along the way. This is heaven and this hell, life can bring such wonderful thrills.

We grow up strong and filled with pride, then we end up on our ass destroyed. Crying and sobbing over a lie - I guess love is hate in disguise. We see things we can't forget - resort to things that destroy us from the inside - we've all been destroyed in one way or another - seen and been through things we don't want to remember.

Time slows down and the lights dim, the streetlights are far and few between. I'm at the crossroads between love and hate - losing faith about to give in. Waiting on a savior, to save me from this plight, I've only been praying every night. But god finally answered my prayers, I have an angel now - Satan beware.

I will no longer give in to your temptations, nor risk my own salvation. I fell in love for the last time - and for once I'm happy. For once I'll smile and laugh till I gasp just to take one last breath.

God is on my side, my angel on the other. My wings are growing faster, and I will live happily ever after.
