Streams of Consciousness
Dreams flow like a river
By Jennifer Bogert Published 6 years ago • 1 min read

Shallow river snaking by
Carrying my dreams
As upon my bed I lie
Thoughts stretching like streams
And as my thoughts flow out to sea
Ebbing with the tide
I wonder if I’m really me
The me that lives inside
Or is all just illusion
Am I floating free
Free of all confusion
Free just to be me
As my thoughts meander
Down these streams of consciousness
I try to take a gander
At this species that is us
Why do we hurt each other
When we are all one
And why do we hurt our mother
This earth that we dwell on
The streams of thoughts are murky
Muddied with despair
The river it is dirty
And no one seems to care
