I Never Really Knew You

This is a poem I wrote about relationships that start out so well that even when they turn bad, you are still blinded by the light until it is over:

One year ago today, you were a stranger.

We had never met, only crossed paths in the most ironic of ways.

I dreamed of a love like the one we had,

Of always having a hand to hold.

A love that was all-consuming,

Epic.

But today, you are still a stranger.

I never knew the real you, not even to this day.

I have nightmares about the love we had,

The lies you told.

A love that was terrifying,

Tragic.
