Growing up in an unaccepting town,
Constantly in struggle to find my place,
Always just fading into the background.
Anger, red starts in my chest, bubbling out,
Having to be someone else to feel safe,
Living life in an unaccepting town.
Orange and yellow, not making a sound,
Suppressing anxiety, saving face,
Always just fading into the background.
Jealousy towards couples not beaten down,
Green arising over those who are straight,
Growing up in an unaccepting town.
Feeling blue, lack of acceptance profound,
Purple follows close, a strong sense of shame,
Constantly fading into the background.
The rainbow was daunting til I came out,
But now it is something that I embrace.
I am out of the unaccepting town,
No longer fading into the background.
