I love plants a lot,
and it’s my constant effort,
to find their identities and traits.
So, I saw this unusual tree
near a park in a neighboring city.
I knew it’s conifer, a pine—
but wasn’t sure of its species.
I know several varieties,
grow in this region,
but this enormous pine,
umbrella-shaped canopy
was quite a mystery!
Then came internet to rescue,
I gave specifications,
and learned its name—
a Mediterranean variety
Stone Pine or Parasol Pine.
To me, it was a joy,
to know the pine's name.
I feel it’s a major shame,
trees are not recognized,
they are taken for granted,
kids are not taught,
about these life-giving angels,
our environment sentinels,
as if it's not important,
then what is the priority?
Parents should do better,
they need to learn themselves,
and educate the kids,
about flora, with passion.
Then they don’t have to,
complain about the rising risk,
of failing mental health,
for plant love offers,
peace and tranquility wealth.

I feel your passion for plants in every line.
It's so nice to see the amount of joy doing this brings you. Loved your poem!
I cannot imagine a world without plants! I love plants too. Thank you for sharing this!
This poem would be great for a course in botany. Great poem. I learned the basics in 7th grade.
