Stillness and Being

For the Moments of Silence Challenge

By John CoxPublished about a year ago 1 min read

Slowly to the floor

I kneel,

Life whispering like snow falling in the

Evening hush of a wintery day, silent

Notes prompting stillness and being,

Calling softly, tranquility

Echoing all around.

This was brilliant in its simplicity :) I felt the hush and the humility. Though I had to laugh a bit at the beginning only because my knees do not kneel anymore. Loved it!

  • A beautiful acrostic, especially: “ Calling softly, tranquility Echoing all around.” Just the very word “tranquility” is restful💙.

A poem of surrender, seems like you’re saying to us that silence can only be reached when we surrender. I’ve surrendered to the honest and gentle giant in your poem.

That first narrative image set quite a stage and the rest of the piece was stunning! Bravo, John!

There is something of age in this. I feel my knees groan a bit, but also the space to take in the quiet.

So profoundly beautiful, John! As with many of your works, I feel the life and breath in this - as if I could close my eyes after reading it and step right into the world you have expressed. Thank you for sharing this wonderful work!

A very beautiful poem, John. I love the silence during a snowfall. All you can hear is the flakes hitting the ground.
