Stewing (Mid-Chew)
A poetry entry in the Somewhere Between Here and There Challenge
Hand to mouth, I cannot wait, the casserole looks delicious
An impatient pop into my mouth
Sizeable meat and potato morsels drenched in gravy
OUCH- it's piping hot
Mid-chew, I bite my tongue
Huh, I seem to do that a lot these days
Bite my tongue that is
Never hungry enough to get to the heart of any matter
Never adding spice or flavor to a situation when called for
Never sharing ideas I've cooked up
Always accepting leftovers instead
It appears I ignore chomping at the bit, favoring stewing

Author's Note: My entry plays on words related to stew. Happy eating, I mean reading!

Brilliant!
Clever, but I can’t get the too hot stew out of my head. My tongue feels blistered just thinking about it
I love how you turned a simple moment of biting into hot food into a clever metaphor for holding back in life.
Hehehehehe I'm happy to eat, oops, I mean read! Loved your poem!
