Steps Into Progress

Police Brutality Edition

By Samantha BoahenPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

Our skin so crisp and defined

Why must we then cross the line?

This issue has occurred many times

It’s crazy how times flies

Yet, still...no change

Coming from Emmett Till to Trayvon Martin, same events just rearranged

Heartbroken because this horror comes from those we trust

The high powers, officials, known as police letting their title rust

The commonalities between our fellow black man and the police

Aren’t we are all human, blood and bones when the titles are released

But still we see inequalities, an upper hand

Crushing our fellow black man

When will we see the change, and how?

Until we accept the source of the problem, we will just sit still demanding now.

The police is not the problem

Or the black man unleashed

Instead it is our history, time and events

That made our people start to resent

Yes, talking about way back in the 1600s, when slavery started

Till now when it is still imparted

To our generations, until this is changed that is when change will unfold

We all have our positions which are enclosed

Need to stop telling our black boys to be cautious

Due to all the hate that caused this

Instead of coming together to be equal

Almost as if we all respect evil

But that should not be the case

Instead we should combat that term of “race”

Alter our past to create our future

Let’s come together as one, sutured

A start will be training everyone differently

And stop supporting negativity

With our fellow police

They have to be careful before they release

With our fellow blacks

They need to learn to relax

Take time to analyze

We all have to see what the scene implies

Instead of us seeing where their blood lies

Change our history, making the past into a blur

Become the mixing pot that we can stir

Now it’s time to sum up

Until my next come up

In the end I say adieu

Closing my eyes to see anew
