Stay Confident Like Dandelions

Thrive with resilience

Don’t be belittled

by their interpretation.

It does not need

their approval,

to feel worthy.

Their thinking is often

rooted in selfishness.

I was looking at a dandelion —

so tenacious, and resilient,

poking through unlikely places.

Its leaves are edible,

its flowers so cheerful —

enough to add joy

to a foggy, gloomy day.

Oozing with nectar,

feeding the pollinators.

The seedheads are otherworldly,

be dew-laced or backlit.

I love admiring, blowing,

watching the seeds fly

toward their next destination —

to start life anew.

And yet, humans call them

a useless, pesky weed.

But they glorify

those narcotic plants

for the high they give.

Don’t fall for gaslighting,

be like the dandelion —

thrive, with quiet confidence.
