Stars Shared, Darkness Embraced

A poem of a doctor crumbling under an asylum's weight

By Zohan AliPublished 2 years ago 1 min read

In shadowed halls of asylum's grasp,

Where whispered tales and cries amassed,

Stood Dr. Gogh, a beacon bright,

In grim, dark walls, a guiding light.

With empathy, he eased the pain,

A balm for tortured souls' refrain,

A source of hope, in night so deep,

Till burdens made his spirit weep.

The weight of anguish took its toll,

Carving fissures in his soul,

Night by night, the darkness spread,

Asylum's echoes filled his head.

Desperate to escape the cries,

He shut the doors, in sorrow's guise,

Sealing horror deep within,

Yet in this act, he could not win.

A misanthrope, he then became,

Isolating from the same,

The humanity that he sought to save,

Now trapped within its dark cave.

He once shared stars, with light so bright,

But now only darkness fills his night,

A tragic tale of hope once shown,

But now shadows fill his heart and home.
