Star Spangled Eulogy

A poem

By The Vent By Franklin NewberryPublished 4 years ago Updated 4 years ago 1 min read

Let it be known to all this day

The American dream has passed away

Aborted and wrapped in a soiled flag

Dusted in ash in a plastic bag

Just like our unborn daughters and sons

Truth be known I guess they're the lucky ones

Tossed out into a drainage ditch

Drained of it's blood to bathe the rich

Scooped up and thrown in rubbish can

Carried to the dump by the garbage man

Stinking and dry in the mid day heat

Rats and oppossums gather 'round to eat

They gnaw on the flesh and they lick the bone

Growling at each other when the meat is gone

slam poetry
