The Rains Came

For Appalachia... For my people

By The Vent By Franklin NewberryPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

The sun, it had started to rise

Then the rains came

So bright that it blinded our eyes

'Til the rains came

We thought the crops surely would die

Then the rains came

It was worth more than all you could buy

When the rains came

We thought we would feint from the heat

Then the rains came

There was dust blown all over the street

Then the rains came

It washed it from beneath our feet

When the rains came

The taste of it never so sweet

When the rains came

But this time it brought us all tears

When the rains came

It brought to life all of our fears

When the rains came

It took away all we held dear

When the rains came

Now we tremble each time it draws near

For the rains came
