Standard of Beauty

What happened to the standard of beauty

Who made women think that beauty is only skin-deep

That the only way to feel pretty is

By putting on makeup and acting like another person

I´m tired of reading articles online on how to make yourself prettier

At least the standard of beauty is getting better

I will not challenge that

I will not challenge the fact that in the media people of all skin tones are included

In more makeup brands and advertisement

But what about natural beauty

It is never in the media as much as it should be

I wish little girls would know that they are just as pretty without makeup

Online you would see little girls trying to grow up too fast

With a full face of make-up by the age of 12

Dressing like they are teenagers or adults

Little girls, please listen to me

You do not need to feel like you have to prove your beauty to the world

If no one has told you this then let me be that positive voice in your head

You are beautiful.

You are important.

You are you.

Inner beauty is far more important.

If someone has told you that you are not pretty enough or have called you names

Let them talk

Know that you are enough

Know that

You are kind

You are smart

You are important

Let loose, live your childhood life

It's okay to want to mature

To wear makeup to enhance your confidence

But it's not okay to feel forced into hiding who you are

If you are a girl who is a tomboy or lives carefree

Then let that girl run free

Because once you are an adult

You will regret growing up too fast
