Stains In The Snow

Innocence Reborn

By Kelli Sheckler-AmsdenPublished 12 months ago 1 min read

She lay in the field tearing free from the trap

Ripping the flesh off its teeth

Heading to places unmarked on a map

Not even close to who she hoped she’d be

She smiles through the tears

Letting the innocence in

Escaping images made by peers

Trying to save what was left of her skin

Releasing the screams that nobody hears

Falling blindly for vague mysteries

The mysteries playing on fears

Likened to Lace on a used wedding gown

Where the broken gets lost in its feels

On the opposite side of a two headed coin

Though neither resembles the other

She got where she got by her own choice

Leaving the onlookers to wonder

This is a poem that is really something that seems extravagant.to me for some reason I cannot think of at the moment.
