Stages of Sunset
A poem by Lizzy Pacem, written in the 2010s while reflecting on the state of the Earth.

- The sky lights up in a blaze of
Fire...
Warm blue...
Radiating lavender...
Juicy watermelon...
As the sun begins its bedtime descent.
- The sky brightens with
Vermilion...
Cotton candy...
Tangerine brilliance...
With the falling of the setting sun.
- The sky dulls with
Rusty shades of cool steel
Slicing through charcoal,
A skillful sword against
The flesh of the atmosphere...
The great orb is dying.
- The sky dims with
Shadows meeting deep crimson
As the clouds bleed across
The vast open space...
Mourning the loss of the precious light.
- The sky dies with
Ash...
Ice...
Ivory...
Amongst pitch.
- The sun has died for the day;
The moon reigns supreme over the night.
About the Creator
Lizzy Pacem
I have experienced many things over my long life, and all of these things influence my writing. I have been an advocate for the arts since the beginning of the concept of art, and I hope to inspire others to embrace their inner creators.
