Spring Forward, Fall Back

Feeling Seasonal

By Earl W. PearlPublished 2 years ago Updated 2 years ago 1 min read

I’m just like my coffee

Half black and half white

In summer I’m darker

In winter, more light

I much prefer summer

The winter’s too cold

In summer I’m youthful

In winter I’m old

By autumn I’m slowing

I’m losing my pep

But as winter retreats

There’s spring in my step

If summer’s abundance

Then winter is lack

If Spring’s looking forward

Then fall’s looking back

If snow is my shut-in

Then summer’s my out

If winter’s bad credit

Then summer’s my clout

The sun makes me friendly

More apt to consort

But when temperatures drop

My attitude’s short

I’m happy when grilling

Love barbecue foods

The smell of a season

Can alter our moods

Now winter’s not all bad

Here in Denver, we ski

Our Rockies are stunning

But summer’s more me

nature poetry
