Split Reflections

A poem for us, from us...

So...

Who's in charge today?

The taking of a poll is far too taxing of a toll‐

So...

Me, Myself and I take turns in taking control-

The worst of our habits are those that are old

But the best of our cards can't fold,

And as close as can be to the vest-

All that we have that can continue to stand time's test,

Is nothing less than an organized mess‐

Reflections split from a shared mirror

A collection of faces separate,

It's what stains this glass that keeps us apart‐

So...

Who will take the stage today?

Too many selections can be made between the masks we juggle

Emotions decide on the expressions divided among us

Fears and nightmares form our shared paradise,

Our only consensus‐

So many eyes,

So many views,

Separated by the cracks of broken glass‐

Living divided‐

So many voices,

So many sounds,

Play a symphony over a broken record‐

So...

Who will direct the choir today?

Me, Myself, or I?

When reflections split,

Who's fruitless endeavors will be showcased today?

How much can come out of one mirror?

When reflections split,

Who will face the crowd?

Will it be Me, Myself, or I?

About the Creator

Josh Morgan

Personally, writing began as a creative outlet, to be a means of processing and venting emotion, but it has become so much more. Something I want not to be just relatable, enjoyable and a good read, but to reach someone who is in need.

Even though it is reflective, we have to bear it, isn't it.
