Spiralling Gold

By August White

By August WhitePublished 5 years ago 1 min read

Floating in the dark

Orbits of red and pink light pierce through the skin

Bound to your eyes, carried through every adolescent phase

From every shade wrapped around your body to a dramatic fade

You wore me,

Shamed me,

Painted me,

Hated me,

Adored me.

I’ve seen you at every high and low,

A passing thought as I dress blue ceilings with spirling liquid gold

Streets that were blanked grey, now roar and rise

Woven flags are held by fists that climb into the sky

Unified, as the cracks weave, diminishing the rot

Together as one

The colours bleed and fly
