Spent today thinking of you
I wonder, if you really knew?
How I silently respected you
Many months would pass without visits
To neglect is not the same as to forget
Though it hits just as hard
-
Spent today thinking of you
Some days, it's all I can do
When the pain still feels new
Many months would pass without visits
I could make excuse after excuse
But, really, now, what is the use?
-
Spent today thinking of you

Heartbreaking Paul, and wonderful poetry <3
This hit me so hard because I've experienced this too before. It's just so heartwrenching!
There will be time for that later..., until there's not. And then the regret sinks in deep.
oh my. This was an emotional read with some very powerful lines! Beautiful work conveying these deep feelings and getting us all to feel them with you. This was truly relatable and gave me pause.
The subtitle is really a warning. Expanded, it would read, "A poem by Paul about grief. Be prepared to feel it." I did. Well done, pal!
Great pacing, Paul, i really felt the wistful regret. And actually, this is a very familiar feeling to me. “To neglect is not the same as to forget.” How true. 😢
Such a heart-touching piece
“to neglect is not the same as to forget” Intriguing line which made me think of a few different things from my life. Pretty sure your recipe said something about compassion for self. Can be challenge to practise - agreed. My comments seem mostly maudlin today I’m noticing .. it’s just the way I’m feeling. Sorry. Will be back to bad/unfunny jokes soon.
I really felt your pain here sorry for your sadness
The use, perhaps, is that we do now better.
