A taste of the seamless possibilities,
Not searching but finding all the same,
The crisp dawn light highlighted the secret thread,
Like a worm burrowing through the earth to find its home.
**
The unknown unveiled minute by minute,
The realm cycling through the evidentiary outcomes,
Who can predict the current wavelength,
That tomorrow may bring?
**
Wistful desire and longing a wasted event,
Choices made, roads taken to a distant momentum,
Though the banded connection hits hard,
Taut but not quite broken.
**
A quick search brings no relief,
Questions were never asked,
Answers never sought,
The ball dropped by chance or choice?
**
Bygones are now the secret of the heart,
One that sunders the news unspoken,
Where once the thought would be abhorrent,
A small glimmer of hope takes hold.
**
A flowering may ripen in the future,
Trust built upon the back of fear,
Tears wrought and put to bed,
To allow the sound of laughter to reign once again.
About the Creator
Colleen Millsteed
My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.

I love how you balanced longing, uncertainty, and the faint glimmer of hope.
The ending was very hopeful. Loved your poem!
A lovely poem, thankyou for sharing xx
