Spectral Dance of Dawn

An ode to light.

By Lisa AlexanderPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

Night curls its talloned wings around, as consciousness descends.

That infinite onyx bite.

A network of cobwebs envelops me within.

Darkness unending as the invisible horizon...

But lo - with rays like heralding trumpets,

His Royal Hueness The Sun, yawns and reaches out sleepily,

Shadow creatures hiss and scuther away.

Heavy with darkness,

I blink in the new day’s light.

Matted wires of nightmares fall away, phantasms melting,

As sunbeams hit a humble blade of grass, kissed with dew,

Who becomes as royalty;

Dawn’s coronation in watery effulgence.

My soul becomes drunk on golden beams;

As dew-sprites spark, in diamondesque dance.

Ruby sears the air, vanquishing the fear,

Visceral, velvet, sanguinous; yet flirtatiously scarlet.

Regal emerald sagely sighs at the mischievous lime light.

Sapphire unfurls her azure robes and reflects upon the day,

Adorned, glittering as the sea.

A microcosm within a watery orb,

Spectral headquarters projecting a celestial lightshow;

Ephemeral, ethereal,

Moneyless treasure,

Fleeting and gone,

As my soul smiles hello to a new day.
