Speak to me

A poem

The whispers of the trees

Sing a sweet song to me

Dragonflies flying about in clusters

Squirrels doing squirrel things.

Children swinging on swings

Laughing joyously

Not a care in the world

Not one to be seen.

If you listen carefully

You hear it speak

You hear the wind

And all it's sweet melodies.

I don't want to go back

To the mundane

To the noise

To the naysayers

And gossiping.

No, keep me here

In the colors

Under the clouds,

But no rain to be seen

Keep me here with the earth

Where everything is green.

This resonated so much. Beautiful. I loved the hint of humour with ;Squirrels doing squirrel things.' Nostalgic and wonderful!
