A Poem

I took a stroll down memory lane

I saw you there

It caused my soul

To dance with pain.

The way you talked

And laughed

And played

Oh the way

I thought you'd always stay.

I took a stroll down memory lane

The way I cherished

And adored you

Yet I now sit

Now scarred

My heart you did maim.

I took a stroll down memory lane

It hurts

Still fresh wounds

Deep cuts

Now my mind

Is no longer sane.

I took a stroll down memory lane

Me and you

You and I

Together forever

The both of us

Made the perfect two.

I took a stroll down memory lane

It was a long

and lonely walk

No hand to hold

No lips to kiss

No one to whom

I could talk.

Wow. That pain is familiar. It gets better. The more you work on yourself the more you’re aware of what to avoid- it gets much better.
