Light sparkled off the gems of my dress, hiding my inner mess, their
Obsessive eyes stared, lustful and blissfully unaware, a
Valentines lovers high, all I wanted to do was cry, my
Eyes drowning in pain, my makeup drawing it away, their
Attention lingering on my body, the only thing they seem to want from me,
The fact that beauty is held higher then authenticity is a cruel joke, never alone but always lonely, their
Fake love and compliments soared in the room, intentional and hungry to bloom
I aimed for the exit, emptiness trailing me intent as a reaper
Right as I pushed the door, I paused, glancing back once more, I
Scanned the room, and my eyes locked with you
The pain in yours a mirror to mine, a
Soft smile grazed your lips, the recognition it bore kissing my soul
I see you, my returning smile said
Gratitude filled my heart because
His eyes held mine saying, I see you too
The exit lingered but I stayed, frozen in place, a single stare filling up that empty space
