Sonnet #4

Friends

By ChampionElCidPublished about a year ago 1 min read

When all alone without a friend in sight.

One thinks I'd weep and mourn this sad, dark, state.

But in solitude, I find strength and might

Though I must persevere without a mate

For all my years I feel I have no friend

No one to hold close or stand in rough seas

Though some have come none stood until the end.

And this end may yet bring me to my knees

I know not who to trust, who to keep near

There are those who betray, feign love then leave

But those precious few who stay are more dear

Than any treasure that thou can conceive

Alone or with friends my soul is the same

It stays apart from all those who came.
