Songs of Our Past

By Julie O'Hara - Author, Poet and Spiritual WarriorPublished 3 months ago 2 min read

Verse 1:

Got a box of memories, filled with faded notes,

Each one a melody that once made my heart float.

But the records keep spinning, though the music’s gone,

Just echoes of our laughter, now a haunting song.

Pre-Chorus:

I can’t press rewind, can’t turn back the years,

They’re just whispers of moments, mixed with laughter and tears.

Every track tells a story, every beat holds a trace,

But I’ve learned to let go, even if it’s not easy to face.

Chorus:

Past relationships, just a collection of songs,

Sweet harmonies and heartbreaks where we both belong.

But the notes are all fading, like a tune left unsung,

Now it’s nothing but silence where the laughter once hung.

Verse 2:

I remember the lightning, the spark in your eyes,

The dance of our passion, the highs and the sighs.

But the chorus has changed, and the bridge fell apart,

What once felt like forever now just aches in my heart.

Pre-Chorus:

So I flip through these chapters, the verses we wrote,

But the lyrics start blurring, like words lost in a note.

Each harmony we shared fades like a soft breeze,

Now the silence feels louder, and I’m learning to breathe.

Chorus:

Past relationships, just a collection of songs,

Sweet harmonies and heartbreaks where we both belong.

But the notes are all fading, like a tune left unsung,

Now it’s nothing but silence where the laughter once hung.

Bridge:

But I’ll cherish those moments, the music that played,

Even if the love faded, the memories won’t stray.

Like a playlist forgotten but still holds some grace,

They’re part of my journey, a time and a place.

Verse 3:

Now I’m finding new rhythms, and I’m learning to sing,

Creating fresh melodies with the joy that they bring.

And though those old songs may linger in my mind,

I’m embracing the present, new tunes I can find.

Chorus:

Past relationships, just a collection of songs,

Sweet harmonies and heartbreaks where we both belong.

But the notes are all fading, like a tune left unsung,

Now it’s nothing but silence where the laughter once hung.

Outro:

So here’s to the music, the love that it brought,

To the lessons learned, and the battles we fought.

Though they’re nothing more than memories in the air,

I’ll keep moving forward, ‘cause new songs are waiting there.
