Something Rare

Caterpillars

By Brenda SmithPublished 3 years ago 1 min read
Moth Caterpillar

Something rare to see,

Is a baby bird in a tree.

Why is that?

When there is food and a birdbath.

Baby birds can’t eat seeds.

They have different needs.

A caterpillar or worm they will consume.

A nest of babies will eat a 100 of them by noon!

We can help feed the baby birds

By cutting mealworms in thirds

But….

Let’s simplify our lives,

And plant for butterflies and beehives.

Less lawn and more native plants,

Equals more pupa and less work, imagine that!

Don’t forget some water,

For other animals (like wandering otters).

And no more fall raking and plant stem snipping

Leave it until the spring when you start digging.

Its as simple as that,

And easier on your back.
